Podophyllum peltatum-May apple

Primary use: Problems with the intestines resulting in diarrhea.

Gastritis with vomiting and diarrhea. Rectal prolapse after diarrhea.

A wonderful remedy for many forms of diarrhea especially if there is copious watery stool containing mucus resembling jelly.  The stool can also have a greenish color and alternate with constipation.  The dog may experience intense pain while passing stool. The stool, which may have an offensive odor is passed in gushes.  Young puppies can get a diarrhea when teething.  The remedy helps for acute gastroenteritis accompanied by episodes of vomiting and diarrhea. The diarrhea can be so severe that is causes the rectum to prolapse.   The dog needing Podophyllum can also have flatulence.

Think of this remedy to help with pregnant dogs that have an abdomen that becomes too pendulous, or in cases of uterine prolapse.
